About me

I am a member in the School of Mathematics at the Institute for Advanced Study. Previously, I was a Gibbs Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Yale University. I obtained my PhD at the California Institute of Technology in June 2020 under the supervision of Nets Katz.

My research interests lie in extremal combinatorics, additive number theory, discrete geometry, in the interactions between these areas, and also in their interactions with other fields.

This website is also partly a mathematics blog, where every now and then I’ll be discussing various results and observations that I find interesting. If you like something you see here, don’t hesitate to reach out! My e-mail address is pohoata at ias dot edu. My full name is Andrei Cosmin Pohoata, but everyone who knows me calls me Cosmin –it’s also the name I use on all math related things and everywhere I go (except for perhaps visa appointments and Starbucks..).
